I wasn't very excited about this series in the first book but it is actually getting exciting. Who could have known a Prince would be so weak, a Queen could be so hateful, a Princess such an evil entity who cheats, lies, blackmailed, and murders. A sister who can outwit her mother's schemes, a cousin who races to save the day. And Waffles who loves apples and is destructive. Great imagination..... Wonderful story

This series of books have been really great! The writer really has a way of keeping your attention in the story line. I have recently purchased her new book at a book signing she had, it's called "Captain Patty and the Nameless Navigator." All I have to say is, this girl can write! I can really say that I will be following Erin Cruey in all of her books and if you haven't read any of them I would encourage you too. They have some great adventures in them and she has a way of making you feel like you are part of the story.
Although this author could be an okay romance writer she should either do a lot more research on the trends of the period she is writing about or stick to a more modern time period. i found it very distracting to read modern day comments, words, and actions in an historically based book. When Bernie's thought of elastic appeared I had to laugh. Sorry, elastic is a modern invention, as is the use of the word "hi". It left me feeling a bit disoriented as to the time period in which this story was supposed to be occuring. It leaves me wondering how old this author is and if this is her first attempt at writing. With more research she would have a more believable storyline that is more period-correct. A good editor would have caught this so I am wondering if she isn't self-published. An intersting plot that is just too inconsistent to be enjoyable for me. But, that being said, if it is her frst attempt, she shouldn't give up, just spend more time in period research.

I was so glad I got my book in the mail quickly from . After reading Erin Cruey's first book of this series, "The Ripple Affair" I couldn't wait to see how this story was going to play out. She has a way of making you feel like you are right there in the story. My favorite character in the book would have to be Bernie, I love her sense of humor. Once again the book was hard to put down. Hanging in there to see what her next book will entail and how this story will end. Erin Cruey has become one of my favorite authors!
